GUIITAR Council Student Startup Innovation Policy 2.0 (SSIP 2.0)

SSIP 2.0 aims to promote innovation and startups across traditional and new-age technologies and sunrise sectors. Innovations in clean and green energy, and efforts to address climate change, towards achieving India's pledge of net-zero emissions by 2070 will be encouraged. Thrust areas such as semiconductors, robotics, electric vehicles, waste management, artificial intelligence, machine learning, the Internet of Things, and Blockchain will also be in focus. However, the Policy aims to support sector-agnostic innovations and Startups.

Vision:
Empowering the young population of the State to unlock their creative potential through
Startup and Innovation to enable them to contribute to sustainable development and
inclusive growth towards the realisation of Aatmanirbhar Gujarat.
​
Mission:

1. Create a student-centric innovation and incubation ecosystem across academia.
2. Establish an Innovation and Startup Ecosystem at all levels of education: Schools, Institutes and Universities.
3. Develop functional incubators at all universities in the State.
4. Scout and nurture innovation and Startups across academia and enable them to
deliver maximum value to the industry, society, and the State at large.
5. Build internal capacity of educational institutions and strengthen mentoring processes.
6. Promote awareness programmes on intellectual property and develop mechanisms for filing and obtaining approvals for IP.
7. Set up a robust, common digital platform that provides seamless support to stakeholders.
8. Develop an integrated performance analysis mechanism by defining predetermined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
9. Encourage students, innovators, and Startups in sunrise sectors and in traditional and disruptive technologies.
10. Formulate and implement interventions and mandates based on learnings from best practices and past efforts to facilitate the Mind-to-market journey.
11. Nurture the evolution of the Gujarat Startup ecosystem across its various phases, including emergence, activation, integration, and maturity.

Eligibility:
1. Any person up to the age of 35 years, who is a school student of  Foundational/Preparatory/Middle/Secondary level (Up to Class 12)
2. A Diploma/Vocational/Undergraduate/Postgraduate/Doctoral student or an  alumna/alumnus
3. Any dropout from the School/Institute/University

        The innovation of the beneficiary should contribute to the development or improvement of any product, process, or service in existing or new fields; or be a scalable business model with the potential to generate employment or wealth.
​
Benefit to Student Innovators & Startups:
1. Support for Proof of Concept/Minimum Viable Prototype: Max. Rs. 2.50 lakhs grant
2. Class 9 to 12: Max. INR 20,000 per PoC/Prototype /Innovation
3. Support for IPR: Average Rs. 75,000/- grant for domestic IPR filing
4. Infrastructure, Mentorship, Networking, Travel, Library and Others support
