GSFC University Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC)
In 2018, the Ministry of Education (MoE), through its Innovation Cell (MIC), launched the Institutions Innovation Council (IIC) programme, in collaboration with AICTE, for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to systematically foster a culture of innovation and the startup ecosystem within educational institutions.

Primarily, IICs role is to engage a large number of faculty, students and staff in various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities such as Ideation, Problem Solving,Proof of Concept development, Design Thinking, IPR, Project handling and Management at pre-incubation/incubation stage, etc., so that the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem gets established and stabilised in HEIs.

Major Focus of IIC:
1. To create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem.
2. Startup/entrepreneurship supporting Mechanism in HEIs.
3. Prepare the institute for the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements Framework (ARIIA).
4. Establish a Function Ecosystem for Scouting Ideas and Pre-incubation of Ideas.
5. Develop stronger cognitive abilities among technology students.

Function of IIC:
1. To conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by the Central MIC in a time-bound fashion.
2. Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.
3. Organise periodic workshops/seminars/interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals, and create a mentor pool for student innovators.
4. Network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organisations.
5. Create an Institution's Innovation portal to highlight innovative projects carried out by the institutions faculty and students.
6. Organise Hackathons, idea competitions, mini-challenges, etc., with industry involvement.
